HTC launches Desire 501, 601 and 700 dual-SIM Android smartphones in India

HTC launches Desire 501, 601 and 700 dual-SIM Android smartphones in India

HTC has added three new mid range smartphones to its Desire range – the Desire 700, the Desire 601 and Desire 501, to be available at a price of Rs.33,050, Rs.24,190 and Rs.16,890 respectively.

The Desire 700 has dual-SIM support (GSM+GSM), sports a 5 inch qHD display with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. Under the hood, a 1.2Ghz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM power the phone. It sports an 8MP rear camera with auto focus and LED flash along with a 2.1MP front facing camera with BSI sensor. The phone will also feature HTC’s trademark Boom sound speakers similar to the HTC One.

It comes with 8GB of internal storage expandable upto 64GB via microSD card and runs on Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with HTC’s Sense 5 UI on top. The phone packs a 2100mAh battery and should be available around Christmas.

Meanwhile, the Desire 601 is also a dual-SIM phone that features a 4.5 inch qHD display with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. It is also powered by a 1.2Ghz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with HTC’s Sense 5 UI. Unlike the the Desire 700, the phone sports a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash along with a 0.3MP camera.

The Desire 601 has 4GB internal storage, expandable upto 64GB with a microSD card. The phone packs a 2100mAh battery along with GSM+GSM dual SIM support. It also has two Boom sound front speakers just like the Desire 700. The Desire 601 should be available starting this weekend.

Finally, coming to the Desire 501, which is also a dual-SIM phone, features a 4.3 inch Super LCD 2 display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. Under the hood, it has a 1.15Ghz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The phone sports an 8MP rear snapper with autofocus and LED flash along with a 2.1MP front facing camera. It comes with 8GB of in-built storage, expandable upto 64GB via microSD card.

HTC also launched the ‘One Max’ recently with a price tag of Rs.56,500, going head on against the likes of Xperia Z Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG Optimus Pro.

With the availability of the Nexus 5 and the Moto G to be launched soon, can the Desire series compete against the likes of its competitors. Not to forget our home grown phone manufacturers, who apparently offer the same or better specifications at almost half the price.
